It was a disastrous week for Arizona Cardinals tackle Elijah Wilkinson, who was put through the ringer each time he was assigned to block one of the Indianapolis Colts pass rushers.
Wilkinson was set to compete against Colts first-round draft pick Laiatu Latu during 1-on-1 drills as heavy rainfall began to pour down on the grass in Thursday’s joint practice at Grand Park in Westfield, Ind. Latu burst through and drove the opposing 6-foot-6, 314 pound veteran backwards until the coaches blew the whistle to stop the drill. Indy’s rookie pass rusher was making practice miserable for an eight-year NFL pro.
