INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts have officially been awarded two compensatory picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, picking up a fifth-rounder, No. 179, and a sixth-rounder, No. 216, to bring their total to eight draft picks heading into April’s draft.
NFL teams are awarded compensatory picks each year based on a formula that takes into account free agents’ average salary, snap count and postseason awards. Not every free agent qualifies for the formula.
The Colts’ losses of Denico Autry, Jacoby Brissett and Anthony Walker in 2021 qualified for the compensatory formula, and the addition of offensive tackle Sam Tevi — who tore his ACL in the preseason finale and did not play a snap for Indianapolis — was the only addition that counted.
