WESTFIELD – After a long night of football, a long flight home and an even longer film session the following day, Nyheim Hines washed himself of his NFL debut, a forgettable, mistake-prone preseason opener in Seattle last week.
A few days later, a friend reached out to ask him about the game.
“What game?” Hines shot back.
He’d heeded the NFL’s 48-hour rule. Hines digested the outing. Learned from it. Then he moved on.
With good reason: the Indianapolis Colts’ rookie running back and leading return man muffed a pair of punts – a major no-no in this league – including one that bounced off him, leading to a loose ball that the Colts were able to recover.
