INDIANAPOLIS — Without any preseason games, the Indianapolis Colts coaching staff has to find different ways to put pressure on the two young kickers competing for the starting job this season.
The importance of that job that shouldn’t be lost on anybody who watched the Colts last season.
Chase McLaughlin and Rodrigo Blankenship are competing for the right to have a game’s outcome balanced on their right foot.
“We’re trying to do some unique things, a little bit different than we’ve done in the past,” Indianapolis head coach Frank Reich said. “Where typically we’d have all our kicking in one period, we’re spreading out the kicking over a couple of periods.
