WESTFIELD – The rookie offensive lineman no one’s talking about is getting his shot.
It’s just not at the exact position he, or the team, expected.
Blame the Indianapolis Colts’ muddled situation at offensive tackle: a few injuries here, a few sacks allowed there, and here they sit, a little more than three weeks until the regular season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. Whatever the reason, rookie Braden Smith is getting a long, long look as the team’s starting right tackle.
No matter he was drafted as a guard.
For the third consecutive practice, Tuesday night at Westfield’s Grand Park, Smith ably manned the position, which is very likely the only spot on the offensive line yet to be determined.
