DeForest Buckner doesn’t often draw attention to himself inside the Indianapolis Colts’ locker room. But Wednesday was a special occasion.
As defensive tackle Grover Stewart prepared to meet the media for the first time since returning from his six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy, Bucker stood with his arms held wide to hold the advancing horde at bay.
Smiling the entire time, Buckner glanced over his shoulder until he was sure his tag-team partner was ready. Only then did he gracefully announce Stewart was ready to take questions.
It was star treatment befitting the return of one of the defense’s most important contributors as the Colts (7-5) continue the quest for their first postseason berth since 2020.
