Colts Notebook: Good news/bad news for Mewhort, O-line

INDIANAPOLIS — There was some good news for the Colts on the injury front Wednesday.

Left guard Jack Mewhort — who was placed on injured reserve Monday with a knee injury suffered during Sunday’s 22-17 loss to Houston — does not have a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Head coach Chuck Pagano said Mewhort suffered a “chondral defect,” the same injury that defensive end Kendall Langford sustained during training camp.

While that injury will require less time for rehabilitation, it still represents another blow to Indianapolis’ fledgling offensive line.

Jon Harrison will replace Mewhort at left guard for the remainder of the regular season.
