INDIANAPOLIS — A rough week for the Colts defense didn't improve much Wednesday with the addition of two more linebackers to the practice participation report.
Trent Cole (back) and Robert Mathis (foot) did not take part in the afternoon session at the Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center. They joined cornerback Vontae Davis (ankle), safety T.J. Green (knee) and cornerback Patrick Robinson (concussion) on the sideline.
It's a serious concern for a unit that struggled mightily in a 39-35 loss to Lions on Sunday and now must face the defending Super Bowl champion Broncos.
Five defenders who lined up at some point against Detroit — cornerbacks Antonio Cromartie, Darryl Morris and Rashaan Melvin, outside linebacker Akeem Ayers and safety Matthias Farley — never had played a snap for Indianapolis before Sunday.
