INDIANAPOLIS — A Colts defense that opened this season thin at safety behind its young, promising starting tandem is now going to have to rely on the veterans signed off the street for at least the next three weeks.
Indianapolis placed starting strong safety Khari Willis on injured reserve with a calf/knee injury Thursday, three weeks after losing free safety Julian Blackmon for the season to a torn Achilles tendon.
Willis, who has already missed one game due to injury this season, must sit out at least three games now, turning the safety position over to special teamer George Odum and veteran Andrew Sendejo for the time being, with veterans Josh Jones and Jahleel Addae in reserve.
