INDIANAPOLIS — A Colts decision to claim two defensive backs off of waivers ended up costing the team the services of a player who’d fought his way up from the practice squad and onto the depth chart.
The Philadelphia Eagles claimed former Colt Andre Chachere off of waivers Thursday, one day after Indianapolis waived the versatile defensive back in order to make room to claim cornerbacks BoPete Keyes and Chris Wilcox from Kansas City and Tampa Bay, respectively.
Chachere, a journeyman who’d bounced around the NFL before making a good impression on Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus from the practice squad last season, had made the Colts’ initial 53-man roster after playing his way into the safety and nickel rotations during training camp.
