Colts rookie running back Josh Robinson averaged 4.4 yards per carry on Sunday in his first NFL action, but the Mississippi State product did something much less noticeable in the team's preseason opener that was equally impressive.
Robinson showed an ability to be a reliable pass protector, a quality that allows his coaches to have some confidence he can handle one of the biggest obstacles to young backs succeeding in the NFL.
Just how high does this aspect rank in terms of running back responsibilities? For the Colts, few things rank higher.
"That's right beside being able to secure the football and running in for touchdowns," offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton said.
