General manager Chris Ballard’s team-building philosophy has become very obvious during his first two years in Indianapolis: he wants to focus on acquiring talent in the trenches. He’s done a good job in building a solid defensive line so far, but the offensive line was still a major issue last season.
Ballard spent a ton of resources on the offensive line in an attempt to improve that group this offseason. He selected two guards in the first two rounds of the draft, signed Matt Slauson and Austin Howard in free agency, and re-signed Jack Mewhort.
