Colts HC Shane Steichen quashes any idea of a QB controversy in Indianapolis

Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen reiterated on Monday that there’s no quarterback controversy at W. 56th Street because as long as 2nd-year starter Anthony Richardson is healthy, he’ll continue to be his ‘QB1’ going forward (via The Athletic’s James Boyd):

Joe Flacco will remain the backup. There is no QB controversy. Never was.— James Boyd (@RomeovilleKid) October 7, 2024

Even though longtime NFL veteran quarterback Joe Flacco was magnificent starting in relief of Richardson during Sunday’s loss—seemingly aging like a fine wine out there, en route to completing 33 of 44 (75%) passes for 359 total passing yards, 3 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions, there’s no need for further discussion on who the starter should be right now.
