Colts GM Chris Ballard sticking to methodical approach in free agency

INDIANAPOLIS -- The first day of free agency went just as new Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard basically said it would.

Ballard didn’t pounce and start signing free agents Thursday as soon as the clock hit 4 p.m. ET, the official start of free agency. The Colts signed two players, punter Jeff Locke and linebacker Barkevious Mingo.

Exciting? No, but finding a replacement for the retired Pat McAfee at punter was necessary. They added Mingo to create competition at linebacker.

The limited movement by the Colts on Thursday had many of their fans in panic mode.
