The Indianapolis Colts dodged one bullet Sunday but took another.
The good news for this franchise, 14 days before the regular season opener, is that a closer look at the neck of defensive end John Simon on Sunday morning revealed nothing serious, according to head coach Frank Reich.
The team’s most active and disruptive defender exited the second half of Saturday’s preseason win over the San Francisco 49ers, stirring concern over whether he had aggravated the same body part that sent him to the injured reserve list with seven games to go last season.
Turns out, the team was just being cautious.
