This scenario has become all too familiar in Indianapolis. The Colts were eliminated from playoff contention for the fourth consecutive season after Sunday’s 45-33 loss to the New York Giants.
Despite having perhaps the best draw down the home stretch any NFL team could ask for, Indianapolis (7-9) failed to take advantage of its weak schedule to remain in the AFC playoff race. New York (3-13) entered Week 17 dead last in points per game and had scored a combined 32 total points in its last three outings before facing the Colts. The Giants had lost 10 consecutive games, including all eight affairs at MetLife Stadium before Sunday.
