With the Colts having Jack Doyle inactive because of injury, they needed another tight end. So they elevated Erik Swoope from the practice squad to the active roster. They also waived cornerback Lenzy Pipkins to allow the move to clear.
Swoope was one of the final roster cuts in training camp, which was surprising. Many thought he would be the third tight end behind Doyle and Eric Ebron. But the Colts elected to cut him and then signed him to the practice squad. He will see his first game action of the season on Sunday.
