INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts kicked off the final day of the draft by spending a fifth-round pick on Missouri State defensive tackle Eric Johnson, an explosive, athletically gifted player who caught the NFL's attention in the predraft process.
Johnson, a 6-4, 300-pounder with long arms who ran the 40-yard dash in 4.87 seconds, dominated the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, earned an invite to the Senior Bowl and held his own enough to catch the attention of the NFL.
While Johnson is athletically gifted, he is still raw, needing development after playing at an FCS school and producing just 6.
