A better question when it comes to the Colts’ defense is whether it’s even average.
But if you judge the unit relative to the low preseason expectations and by using the most important metric – points allowed – the Colts actually are making something of a statement on defense.
The Colts have allowed exactly two offensive touchdowns in their past two games, against the Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers. That has proven critical during a stretch when the Colts’ offense has itself has surrendered three defensive touchdowns off turnovers.
