WESTFIELD - The Colts ended an uneventful training camp competition at kicker by waiving veteran Eddy Pineiro on Tuesday in advance of the NFL’s cut to 80 players on the roster by 4 p.m.
Pineiro, who was brought in to provide competition for incumbent Rodrigo Blankenship, was perfect in training camp and in the preseason, making three short field goals and a 50-yarder against Minnesota.
The problem for Pineiro is that Blankenship has been just as accurate, and his ball has often carried a little more velocity and height.

With a handful of teams searching for kicker help this late in training camp, Pineiro may get claimed off of waivers.
