INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts have made a move to bring back at least one of their free agents, signing Mo Alie-Cox to a three-year deal worth up to $18 million, a source told IndyStar on Monday.
By bringing back Alie-Cox, Indianapolis ensured some stability at a tight end position that looked perilously thin after the retirement of Jack Doyle last week.
Retaining Alie-Cox, 28, gives the Colts a “Y” tight end — an in-line tight end just as important to the running game as the passing game — and avoids trying to find two new options in a free agent market that is heavy on “F” tight ends, players who are mostly receivers at the position.
