INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts are bringing back former fifth-round pick Marvell Tell III for his third offseason in Indianapolis.
Tell, a USC safety the Colts drafted in 2019 to develop into a cornerback, surprised in his rookie season by playing 252 defensive snaps, most of them promising. Initially forced into the lineup by injury, Tell made 26 tackles, broke up five passes and forced a fumble.
But Tell has not been able to match the performance of his rookie season in the two years since his promising debut.

Tell opted out of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, returned in 2021 and struggled in training camp.
