Few could fault the Indianapolis Colts for thinking their wide receiving corps was going to be a strength entering 2019. Between signing a dependable veteran in Devin Funchess in free agency and drafting the electric Parris Campbell in the second round, the Colts put proven production and exciting potential around their returning star, T.Y. Hilton. They also had a pair of intriguing youngsters in Deon Cain and Daurice Fountain whom looked poised to contribute in 2019.
Almost nothing went to plan.
Funchess broke his collarbone in Week 1 and never returned; Campbell was snakebitten all season long; Hilton missed more games (six) last season than he had in his previous seven combined (four); Cain failed to capitalize on early-season opportunities and was cut; and Fountain suffered a season-ending injury in training camp.
