INDIANAPOLIS — There were bright spots on the Colts special teams in 2019.
The rediscovery of Nyheim Hines at punt returner. The discovery of Ashton Dulin at gunner. A solid season from Rigoberto Sanchez and the punt team.
But just about everything in the Indianapolis kicking game was overshadowed by the struggles of Adam Vinatieri. Battling a bad plant leg, his sense of responsibility to the team and Father Time itself, Vinatieri missed a league-worst 14 kick — eight field goals and six extra points — before undergoing surgery on his knee and going on injured reserve with four games left in the season.
