INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts spent the first three years of general manager Chris Ballard’s tenure investing in the defensive end position, and almost all of those players offered a glimpse of the reason Ballard brought them to Indianapolis.
The big-money free agent, Justin Houston, was better than expected. Entrenched veteran Jabaal Sheard bounced back from a training-camp injury to turn in another solid year. Kemoko Turay looked like a bona fide burner off the edge before a broken ankle ended his season. Ben Banogu offered a few glimpses in his rookie season. Al-Quadin Muhammad continued to give the Colts a lot of good snaps, particularly in the running game.
