INDIANAPOLIS — The play was the kind of highlight Indianapolis Colts fans have seen so many times before: T.Y. Hilton streaking downfield, a cornerback a step or two behind, the ball arcing perfectly downfield to hit the Ghost in stride for the touchdown.
The difference was the quarterback, Philip Rivers instead of Andrew Luck.
Hilton’s genius has made building chemistry with his new quarterback easy, despite their lack of playing time together. Rivers completed 17 of 28 passes in Saturday’s session, and like the last Lucas Oil Stadium practice on Monday, the most targets went to Hilton, who caught six of those passes, including the score on the deep ball.
