Andrew Luck on signing a contract extension: 'That would be great'

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck said Monday that he's hoping to sign a long-term contract extension during the offseason.

"Yeah, that would be great," he said. "I haven't thought about it too much. I wanted to make sure this season gets done. But if there's an opportunity for it, yeah, absolutely."

Colts owner Jim Irsay said last spring that he wants to be able to sign Luck, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 draft, to an extension this offseason. Luck is scheduled to make $16.155 million next season.

Despite having the worst season of his four-year NFL career (15 touchdowns/13 turnovers), Luck is still in line to likely earn more than $20 million a year in his new contract.
