Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. As of now, the extent of Carson Wentz’s foot injury remains unclear. The Colts said early Friday afternoon they’re still not sure what happened to Wentz during Thursday’s practice and are awaiting more test results.
If, and that remains a big IF right now, Wentz has to miss significant time, one would have to believe the Colts are going to find themselves in the market for a veteran quarterback.
That’s not to suggest current backup Jacob Eason wouldn’t be in line to start Week 1 in that scenario. But the 2020 fourth-round pick still has a lot to prove before the Colts will know if they can count on him.
