There might not be as many as there could have been, and they’ll almost definitely come in the later rounds, but due to their exploits in free agency thus far, general manager Chris Ballard and the Indianapolis Colts have likely secured themselves some extra draft picks in 2022.
By not signing any marquee outside free agents combined with letting a couple of key players walk, the Colts are projected to secure an extra fifth- and sixth-rounder next year as part of the NFL’s compensatory picks process.
That’s not a bad place to be considering the Colts are down draft capital both this season (third-round pick) and next (a first- or second-round pick) after executing the Carson Wentz trade.
