The Indianapolis Colts started fast and never relented, handing the New York Jets an embarrassing 41-10 loss on Monday Night Football.
Indianapolis improves to 6-6 on the season with the win, pushing them into a three-way tie for first place in the AFC South with the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans. New York drops to 3-9, and are officially eliminated from playoff contention with the loss.
Quarterback Andrew Luck showed no ill effects after recovering from a concussion that caused him to miss their Thanksgiving loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, passing for 278 yards and four touchdowns without turning the ball over. A large majority of his production came in the first half, and Dwayne Allen was his favorite target in the first half.
Allen reeled in three touchdown catches in the first half, helping to power the Colts to a commanding 24-3 lead at halftime.
Things didn't get any better for the Jets in the second half, either. Backup quarterback Bryce Petty took over for Ryan Fitzpatrick at halftime to try and give New York's offense a spark, but it didn't work as the Colts held them to just 250 yards of total offense.
The game was essentially over in the second quarter, yet the Colts added two more touchdowns - a three-yard pass from Luke to Donte Moncrief and a five-yard run by Robert Turbin - to really preserve the victory.
Allen finished the game with four catches for 72 yards and those three scores, while T.Y. Hilton caught nine passes for 146 yards. Now having won three of their last four games, Indianapolis has a crucial home game against the Texans on Sunday.
Petty finished with 135 yards on 11/25 passing with a touchdown and two interceptions, while Fitzpatrick was 5/12 for 81 yards and a pick. Wide receiver Robby Anderson was the only player who really stood out for the Jets tonight, catching four passes for 61 yards and the touchdown.
New York has now lost four games in a row, and will try to snap that streak on the road on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.
