The Indianapolis Colts announced they signed quarterback Andrew Luck to a five-year extension. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the deal makes him the highest-paid player in the NFL.

Just north of $139 million (a record).
$87 million in guarantees (a record).
Luck, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 draft, is widely viewed as the best young quarterback in the NFL, winning 11 games and leading the Colts to the playoffs in each of this first three seasons - all of which earned him a spot in the Pro Bowl. He also led the Colts to the AFC Championship Game in 2014.
However, Luck is coming off of his worst season in his career, passing for 1,881 yards with 15 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. A lacerated kidney cut his season short and limited him to 12 games.
For his career, Luck has passed for 14,838 yards with 101 touchdowns and 55 interceptions, along with 12 career rushing touchdowns.
