Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck suffered a concussion in their win over the Titans on Sunday, and that has his playing status in question for their Thanksgiving Day showdown against the Steelers, according to ProFootballTalk's Michael David Smith:
Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is in the league’s concussion protocol, meaning he’s a long shot to play on Thanksgiving against the Steelers.
Although Luck finished yesterday’s win over the Titans and did not appear to have any injury issues afterward, Colts coach Chuck Pagano announced today that Luck said after the game that he wasn’t feeling well, and he is in the concussion protocol now.
Given that the Colts will be back on the field Thursday, it seems very unlikely that Luck could be cleared in time to play. Pagano said backup quarterback Scott Tolzien will prepare to be the starter this week.
Just because Luck is in concussion protocol doesn't necessarily mean he has a concussion, but it does mean he has some serious hurdles to clear before he can return to the field.
Both the Colts and Steelers are 5-5 on the season, giving this game some major playoff implications.
Luck has passed for 2,827 yards and 19 touchdowns with eight interceptions so far this season, while adding 246 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Tolzien, who signed with the Colts in the offseason, has not seen meaningful on-field action since 2013. He appeared in three games for the Packers that season, completing 61.1 percent of his passes for 717 yards with a touchdown and five interceptions.
