You know that Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck can dissect opposing secondaries like a high-school science experiment. You know that he's destined to be the next QB chiseled into the NFL's Mount Rushmore.
But, do you REALLY know Andrew Luck? Here's five things we're betting you didn't know about the game's next (and/or current) great of greats.
1. He's The Smarty Pants To End All Smarty Pants(es)
Andrew Luck's on-field intelligence is perhaps unparalleled, and that stems from the giant brain that he stuffed full of Architectural Design awesomeness. Luck graduated from Stanford with the Al Master’s Award for athletic and academic achievement in hand. He was also co-valedictorian at his graduation from Stratford High School in Texas, and we're predicting that he'll be the first quarterback to finalize plans for a new, modern skyscraper in the middle of an NFL game.
2. He Spent His Early Childhood In Europe
Luck was born in Washington D.C. and attended high school in Houston, Texas. However, his dad (former NFL QB Oliver Luck) took on jobs as the general manager of two teams in the old World League of American Football, taking young Andrew on a nine-year European odyssey that saw him attend schools in London, England and Frankfurt, Germany.
3. He Is The Quintessential Soccer Fan
When in Europe...
Luck's as big as a soccer buff as you're going to find on American soil. Teammates say that when they go out for dinner, Andrew talks soccer nonstop to the point of reciting European soccer rosters to cab drivers. Luck played soccer when he was younger and claims he was no good at it, which is fine and dandy for Colts fans who'd rather he throw 30-yard darts than hang out on some random pitch for 90 minutes.
4. No Social Media. No Smartphone.
Andrew Luck still uses a flip phone and currently doesn't have a personal social media account. When questioned on it, Luck told reporters that he loses phones all the time and that all he's looking for out of one is texting and calls. No Candy Crush. No duck face selfies. Luck has the money to sport a Google Glass headset and a diamond-encrusted Bluetooth, but the All-American European boy (!) has no use for such stuff.
5. He's A Big Fan of "The Boss"
One technological extravagance that Luck does have is an iPod. So, what does he listen to in order to get pumped up for gameday? According to him, his iPod is chock full of Bruce Springsteen, with most of the albums coming from The Boss' early period. You know, the BEST Springsteen period. So, if you want to get a smile out of Luck from your end zone seat at Lucas Oil, be sure to serenade him with "Born To Run" during warmups.
