The Indianapolis Colts have not had the start to their season they expected. The Colts are 0-2, plagued by turnovers and offense that has struggled. However, the season is still early and the Colts aren't out of the AFC South race yet. Here are 4 things the Colts must do to turn around their season.
Don't Panic
The Colts don't need to panic and make any drastic moves. Remember, they started the season 0-2 last year. They also play in the AFC South, which is a poor division. We may look back on their first two games and find out they lost to two really good teams in the Jets and Bills. The Colts are still in a good position to win the AFC South, they just need to shore up some issues.
Stop The Run
The Colts rank in the bottom 10 in rushing yards allowed in the NFL. If the Colts' defense can't get off the field, that's going to be a real problem. Granted, the Colts have played run-first offenses in the Bills and Jets. Still, the Colts' run defense must improve for their season to turn around.
Find Balance On Offense
This seems like it's been an issue for a long time. The Colts have issues opening up holes for the running game, although Frank Gore is averaging almost four yards per carry. Excluding Andrew Luck scrambles, the Colts have 113 yards on the ground this season. That's the third lowest total in the NFL. The Colts have to find a way to give Luck some kind of running game.
Turnovers
The alternative title for this is "Andrew Luck Plays Better." Luck has thrown five interceptions already this season. While not all of those are his fault and the team asks him to do a lot, Luck needs to play better. He'll be fine, as he's too talented to not start playing like the great QB he is. The Colts have a -7 turnover margin and have yet to force a turnover this season. Losing the turnover battle by such a wide margin is not the blueprint for winning games. If the Colts turn that around, they'll be just fine this season.
