The Indianapolis Colts handed the Denver Broncos their first loss of the season, denying Peyton Manning the career passing yards record and career wins record in the process. It was a huge win for the Colts, who are now 4-5 this season. Here are three things we learned from the Colts in their 27-24 win over the Broncos.
3. Biggest Win Of The Season
This is the biggest win of the season for Indy and it's not even close. After coming up just short against Carolina last week, the Colts held on for a win few expected them to get. It's also their first non-division win all season. The Colts are now 4-5 and in complete control in the AFC South. It's their division to lose and this win does wonders for their confidence.
2. More Balanced Attack
The Colts haven't always been able to utilize a balanced offense, but they did against a Denver defense that had shut down opposing running games all season long. The Colts ran the ball a whopping 40 times for 120 yards. That's not a great average, but it forced the Denver to respect the run and helped Andrew Luck. Speaking of Luck...
1. Andrew Luck Is Still A Great QB
Luck wasn't perfect against Denver, but he still played well against a deadly defense. If there was a game in which it would be understandable for Luck to struggle, it would be this one. Instead, Luck avoided turnovers and completed 21 of 36 passes for 252 yards and two scores. It's only the second time this season Luck has not thrown at least two INTs. Luck still has some growing to do, but this is a confidence building game for Luck and the Colts.
