CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – An error in the second inning led to four unearned two-out runs as Indiana State dropped a 4-0 decision to Sacred Heart in the season opening game for the Sycamores at the Chattanooga Challenge.
The Sycamores (0-1) would continually threaten throughout the game, putting runners in scoring position in three of the last four innings, but couldn't push anyone across the plate and left 10 runners on base. Sacred Heart (1-0) also would threaten to add to its lead but couldn't push any more runs home. The Pioneers best chance came on a double steal attempt in the seventh but SHU's Lauren Delgadillo was thrown out at the plate.
