Peterson's single through the left side in the top of the first scored and gave the Sycamores (12-8) the early 1-0 lead. A freshman, Peterson would score on an error after laid down a sacrifice bunt in the fourth inning.
Memphis (16-5) would tie the game in the bottom of the first then score two in the bottom of the second, taking a 3-1 lead.
