URBANA, Ill.—The Indiana State Softball team fell behind the Illinois Fighting Illini early and could never battle back as the Sycamores fell to the Illini 9-0 Wednesday in Urbana, Ill.
After a scoreless first, the Sycamores threatened in the top of the second as junior Brooke Riemenschneider led off with a single before freshman Shaye Barton walked to put runners at first and second.
Indiana State couldn't get anything pushed acrossed and in the bottom half of the frame, Illinois struck, scoring two runs to take a 2-0 lead.
