TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State and league-leading Illinois State battled it out in a defensive struggle during much of the first half, but a late Redbird goal before halftime and two back-to-back midway through the second half proved to be too much for the Sycamores in a 3-0 Redbird victory on a chilly night at Memorial Stadium.
Indiana State fell to 3-8-2, 1-2-1 MVC while Illinois State improved to 11-4, 4-0 MVC.
The Sycamores got a good look at the goal in the sixth minute when Celeste Wahlberg fired a pass to Sidney Ewing who shot went towards the top right corner of the framework but ended up as the first save of the night for Illinois State's Haley Smith.
