JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Matthew Lewis-Banks once again led the Sycamore delegation on Friday at the NCAA East Preliminary round, falling just short of a trip to Eugene, Ore., after recording another personal-best in the 110-meter hurdles.
Lewis-Banks, the outdoor sophomore, topped his opening round performance in the 110-meter hurdles from Wednesday, clocking a time of 13.78 in the quarterfinal to push him to sixth in Sycamore history. Overall, Lewis-Banks fell just three spots short of qualifying for the NCAA Championships, placing 15th overall in the East Region. While his 2021 campaign season came to a close on Friday, Lewis-Banks managed to complete the Missouri Valley Conference sweep of the hurdles, winning the titles in both the 60 and 110-meter hurdles competitions for the year.
