EUGENE, Ore. – Four-time NCAA Champion and Terre Haute native Kylie Hutson qualified for Sunday’s final in the pole vault following an efficient performance in the qualifying round Friday evening at the U.S. Olympic Trials at a soaked and dreary Hayward Field.
Hutson, who ranks fifth in the United States and tied for 15th in the world in 2016 at 4.70m (15-05.00), finished the qualifying round as one of 10 athletes to clear 4.40m (14-05.25) and one of only five athletes to finish the day clean over the bar.
A total of 13 athletes made it into the final round, including nine of the current top-10 vaulters in the United States.
