The Butler Did It: NBA Admits Paul George Was Fouled on Potential Game-Tying Shot

Paul George got fouled by Jimmy Butler on a last-second lob attempt by the Indiana Pacers, which should have gotten two free throws and a chance to tie the game with 1.2 seconds left in overtime. Instead, the officials held on to their whistles and didn’t make a call — a mistake, according to the NBA’s post-game report on the key officiating plays late in the game.

“Butler makes contact with George’s arm during shot attempt,” reads the official report, noting that the call was incorrect.

Frank Vogel, who drew up the wonderful lob play to put Paul George in a position to get fouled, was livid about the no-call after the final buzzer.
