Report: The Indiana Pacers Will Promote Nate McMillan to Head Coach

According to The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Indiana Pacers are staying in-house and promoting Nate McMillan to head coach.

This comes just over a week after the Pacers let Frank Vogel go.

McMillan has a 478-452 record as a head coach with the Seattle SuperSonics and the Portland Trail Blazers. He spent the last two years as an assistant under Vogel.

Considering McMillan’s teams were some of the slowest in the NBA in his time with Portland and Seattle, this is a bit of a surprise. Bird said he felt the team had started to tune out Vogel, so promoting one of his assistants also makes this a little perplexing.
