Quinn Buckner Takes Part in Olympic Panel

On Tuesday, hundreds gathered at the base of the Soliders' and Sailers' Monument in the center of Indianapolis to celebrate the careers of Olympians Quinn Buckner, Shannon Miller, Jackie Joyner Kersee, and Jaycie Phelps. The four Olympians took part in a panel discussion as part of Olympic Day, discussing what it took for them to reach the Olympic stage of competition.

For Buckner, whose U.S. team won gold at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, the dream of being an Olympian began at a young age. "It started for me in the fourth grade," Buckner said. "My initial drive was to be an Olympian, not a pro basketball player.
