Pacers to consider former NBA guard Chauncey Billups for coaching vacancy

Looking to join the ranks of Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas, Derek Fisher, Mark Jackson, Jason Kidd, Doc Rivers, and most recently, Steve Nash as points guards hired for head coaching roles without prior experience, former Pistons floor general Chauncey Billups has reportedly emerged as a candidate in the Pacers’ wide-ranging coaching search, says ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

As a late-blooming former NBA champion, five-time All-Star, and four-time All-Defensive team member, Billups’ resumé, unlike most of the rest of the names on Indiana’s radar, will be based on his work as an extension of the coach on the floor rather than from the sidelines.
