The Indiana Pacers today signed Alex Poythress and Julyan Stone to deals that will bring them in for preseason. The team already has the maximum of 15 players under contract for its NBA roster, meaning that it is highly unlikely either of these guys actually make the team.
They will instead help Paul George, Myles Turner, and the other players get ready for the season. Then they will either part ways with the franchise or, perhaps, sign a D-League deal to join the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
Alex Poythress seems likely to stick around.
We had already learned that Poythress would join the Pacers for preseason two weeks ago when Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical first reported that the two sides had agreed on terms.
