INDIANAPOLIS – Boomer, the Indiana Pacers' ultra-popular and ultra-agile panther mascot, has been voted into the Mascot Hall of Fame in Whiting, Ind., it was announced Wednesday night at the MHOF Fur Tie Fundraising event.
He will be officially inducted into the Hall's second class during ceremonies June 12-15, 2020.
Boomer was voted into the hall after two rounds of public voting that started in October. More than 120,000 votes from 58 countries and 41,000 zip codes were tallied.
Boomer became the Indiana Pacers mascot in the Fall of 1991 and the current performer has been Boomer since 1997.
