Because the Pacers and Bucks finished with identical 42-40 records on the season, the NBA conducted a drawing to see which team would get the higher pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. The Bucks won the drawing, giving Milwaukee the 17th pick in this year's draft, while the Pacers will pick 18th.
The entire tiebreaking process can be watched on NBA.com, where the league used ping-pong balls to conduct random draws to break ties for five situations of teams finishing with identical records.
Some of the drawings were more consequential, giving teams greater chances in the draft lottery, but because the Pacers and Bucks both made the 2017 Playoffs, their spots in the draft are now cemented.
