Pacers exercise Myles Turner’s third-year option

The Indiana Pacers have exercised their team option on starting center Myles Turner ($2.4M) through the 2017-18 season, the team announced Thursday.

Turner, who was recently voted by the league’s general managers as third-most likely to have a breakout season in 2016-17, averaged 10.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks on 49 percent shooting during his rookie season, earning him a spot on the 2015-16 All-Rookie Second Team and an invitation to join Team USA’s Select Team.

After suffering a concussion which caused him to miss the first two games of Indiana’s exhibition slate, the 20-year-old has appeared poised to leap, both figuratively and literally.
