Nate McMillan announces starters for Indiana Pacers’ first preseason game

The Indiana Pacers initial plan to fill the Glenn Robinson III-shaped hole in their second unit comes in the form of the 37-year-old Damien Wilkins. We found this out when Nate McMillan announced the team’s starting lineup and rotations for their preseason game on Wednesday against the Milwaukee Bucks.

The unfortunate injury to Robinson opens the door for Wilkins, who last played with Brujos de Guayama in Puerto Rico. Wilkins last stop in the NBA came in 2013 with the Philadelphia 76ers when he averaged 6.4 points and 1.7 rebounds a game.

McMillan told reporters on Monday that Wilkins can still play, which sounds like a back-handed compliment but none the less is what the veteran should expect to hear after spending the last few years globetrotting.
